Promising London-based (jazz) pianist surrounded by stars such as Ruth Goller and Seb Rochford

Elliot Galvin (UK) is a pioneering figure in British jazz with his unique take on piano and keys. His album The Ruin, to be released this spring, was composed on his childhood piano, inspired by the environment in which he grew up. He combines acoustic piano with modular synthesisers, adding ethereal vocals and a lot of groove and soulful improvisation into the mix.

Galvin previously worked with Shabaka Hutchings (also present on The Ruin) and Emma-Jean Thackray. Galvin is also a member of the band Dinosaur, whose debut album Together, As One was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize.

He is currently in a group with Dinosaur bassist/vocalist Ruth Goller, violinist Mandhira de Saram and drummer Seb Rochford (from Polar Bear and collaborations with Patti Smith and Damon Albarn). The Ruin appears on the London-based label Gearbox, whose notable releases include albums by Abdullah Ibrahim and Binker & Moses.
