Isaiah Hull
Stand-up ‘tragedian’ x experimental grime, coming soon to YOUNG
Life is Beautiful is the London-based label and collective that counts Isaiah Hull (UK) among its members. Nonetheless, he describes himself as a ‘stand-up tragedian’. His first creation Nosebleeds (2018) is a poetry collection that blended heartbreaking and humorous elements. His poetry portrays the political reality of life in the United Kingdom, particularly in his home city of Manchester. He’s appeared as a support act for artists such as Skepta, Sampha and Kae Tempest.
Nowadays, Hull performs his poetry on tracks, accompanied by the producer aloisius’s dark, glitchy beats, resounding with a flawless flow. His upcoming debut album Pocomania will be released by YOUNG (formerly known as Young Turks), which is also home to Sampha, Jamie XX, FKA Twigs and Kamasi Washington. That goes to show how much promise he has. He might well end up shaking the very foundations of experimental British hip-hop.
