Lukas De Clerck
The artist formerly known as Bloedneus & de Snuitkever explores the boundaries of the aulos (ancient Greek/Egyptian wind instrument)
In recent years, Lukas De Clerck (BE) – who appeared on the 2023 edition of BRDCST with Bloedneus & de Snuitkever – has delved into the history and use of the aulos, a wind instrument from ancient Greek and Egyptian music that consists of two double-reeded pipes.
His research coalesced into the album The Telescopic Aulos of Atlas, a modern approach to postminimalism, drone and contemporary folk. The album appeared on the label Ideologic Organ (a BRDCST darling) which also represents Sunn O))) chief Stephen O’Malley.
Soundohm: “With his contemporary approach to drone, post-minimalist music, and contemporary folk, we find a deeply satisfying and compelling, even playful set of songs, timbral exercises and compositions”.
